“It really helps new parents with special needs to understand the terms used by doctors and also helps us in providing a solid framework. It does help us to snap into action.” ~ Mini John

Hi, I'm Gabriella Volpe.

I am a homeschooling mom to a disabled child, a licensed teacher, and the homeschool consultant for families of children with special support needs. I know first-hand what it means to struggle with educational planning for a child who does not fit the system and is limited by resources and products intended for children without disabilities.

Many of the homeschool planning tools you'll find don't help you understand what to teach and how to organize it all for an entire year. Having been in the classroom, but also in being a homeschooler, I know the best techniques teachers use and how to adapt them so that they apply to the homeschool setting.

As an educational consultant, I have helped homeschooling parents go from confusion to confidence after one consultation.

I developed this refreshing plan of action to help you to understand what you will teach and why. I, then, take you step-by-step through the planning process, in the same way I do with one-to-one consultations. I teach you to do what I do for my clients and what I do for myself.

I believe you have all the skills you need to teach your child, but I will show you how to set it all up.

Over the years, both as a teacher and a homeschooling mom of a disabled child, I have learned:

  • Parents need shortcuts

  • Parents are doers, but do more with confidence if guided, supported and encouraged

  • There is big difference between saying you will do it and actually doing it

The Difference Between Saying You'll Do it ... and Actually Doing It

What successful homeschoolers do differently:

They plan ahead.

Sitting down with the right tools for long-term planning, parents better plan for monthly, weekly and daily activities (and they make sense within a curriculum). They never pull activities out of hat. Instead, each activity has a purpose.

They start from the bottom up.

Even though they have a long-term vision, successful parents know they need to first build a firm foundation in their homeschool. This begins with attention to detail in each subject criteria.

They refer to their plans frequently.

Having an at-a-glance long-term plan allows parents to keep their plans on the forefront of their homeschool adventures. They never scramble trying to locate what to do next because everything is in one easy-to-find place.

or

  • Parents who have had the diagnosis for a while but have been confused with planning the homeschool year

  • Parents who have some idea about yearly planning, but keep procrastinating

  • You want to learn how to make monthly, weekly and daily plans (this is also coming in part 2)

  • Are looking for specific homeschool activities

Frequently Asked Questions

"I don't have time to sit to plan, much less sort through an entire course about planning. How will this make things better for a busy parent?"

I know how busy you are! I am you! This is why I've created bite-sized modules. You can go through one short module at a time, at your own pace, on your own time. You will not just listen to someone talk about how to do it - you will actually be doing it! At the end of this workshop, you will have a chart to refer to throughout the year. You'll go from having no plan, to having a detailed plan in just one workshop. This plan will have you saving time in the long-run!

"I don't have a psychological report, but my child does have significant support needs. Does this still apply to us?"

Yes. This workshop helps you incorporate psychological recommendations into your homeschool plans, but if you don't have one, you can use the most recent therapeutic/rehabilitation or medical reports as reference.

"I worry that this will be complicated and way over my head."

The videos are prepared as though I'm right there with you. It's user-friendly. You can pause, replay, or fast-forword as often as needed. I also include a learning map and checklists to keep you on track every step of the way.

"I am not a teacher. I don't want teacher-like plans for my homeschool. I prefer to keep things loose."

There is no need to become a teacher in order to learn to plan in an organized manner. These techniques are not teacher- or school-specific. Organization is a key skill that every adult (and child) can benefit from. Organization frees you to do the things you love. I walk you through the basics as you set-up the groundwork, then you can continue to do what you do best: guide your child on his educational path in the style you already use.

"I will only have time to do this later in the month. I worry about falling behind in the workshop!"

Good news: The modules and materials are completely yours for life! Because it's self-paced, you can start at any point on your homeschooling journey. You can listen and learn anytime, anywhere. Then, it can be used year after year!

"I am from the U.K. Will this workshop apply to me?"

Yes. The workshop is not country-specific. I use broad examples and tell you how to find what you need for your situation.

"My child has significant developmental delays. Will I be able to use this workshop to plan?

Yes. This workshop is not diagnosis-specific. It teaches you how to use what you have and where your child is presently in order to plan for his homeschool year. It includes children with learning disabilities all the way up to those with significant cognitive delays.

"I have other children to plan for. I can't afford a different planning tool for each child."

You don't need a separate tool for each child. You can use the planning ideas in this eWorkshop for each of your children.
